First United Methodist Church General Scholorship Application

The First UMC Scholarship Fund is made possible by memorial funds gifted to the church and designated for higher education. These funds are overseen by the Trustees of the church and are awarded each year by a Scholarship Team who reviews all applications and makes the final selections.

This scholarship program is intended for students who are engaged and connected to and participate in the life of the congregation at First UMC Lexington. Funds are available to graduating high school seniors and full time college students. Consideration will be made for nontraditional students attending part time in conjunction with their work schedule. A minimum 2.5 GPA must be maintained to be eligible for scholarships.

For first year recipients: One-half of the scholarship will be paid to the school at the time of registration. The second half will be paid upon satisfactory completion of the first semester and our receipt of your transcript or copy of grade report.

For renewal recipients: Upon our receipt of your transcript or copy of grade report, one-half of the scholarship will be paid at the time of registration. The second half will be paid upon satisfactory completion of the term and our receipt of your transcript or copy of grade report.

In the case of seminary students, the seminary must be a University Senate-Approved Seminary of the United Methodist Church. There will be no exceptions to this provision.

The amount of any scholarship will be determined by the amount available in the scholarship fund.

Only complete applications submitted electronically by 4 pm on Friday, April 4, 2022 will be considered. This form should be submitted in its entirety, including the specific requirements described below.
